I read this story that the writer of a business article was working with a sales manager who managed  team of 20 of indoor sales reps. They have a direct report manager who manages half of that team. The writer asked what they were selling and what their products are.

He answered that he was number one.

" If you take a close shot at your team members right now, how many team members do not reach their targets? Can you explain why you are the number one and what others do not do to reach their targets?"

"That be a simple answer he answered. I had the urge to succeed. So I worked at my desk steady. The desire was not to write down or say in words. "It was immense" he said.

"And what seems to be the main objective that you are facing right now?" The writer asked him.

The manager answered: "The team members who are not performing well do not spend enough time making calls. They are too busy with other things. They do not go hunting for sales and they do not contact enough prospects or do not follow up with clients". 

The manager stated: They should pick up the phone and dial phone numbers to make sales and collect commissions. Then they would prosper," He came to the conclusion.

This is a fact. There are sales persons working their behind off and those are the top sales persons who make the most calls and get lot more commsissions than those who make less calls. The team members who are performing well do not need any directions that they need to get on the phone to make calls. 

Those who perform well do not any need advice that they need to take a break so that they do not burn out. ( And if you are a manager then you will know what I am talking about).

I am not going make any friends with this statement, but sales is a well known as a number game. With the coming of social media and artificial intelligence and so on, we came to a stage more than just "calling for dollars".  Social media and artificial intelligence should make us even more successful with sales.

If you just pick up the phone and dial....

"Generating sales through calling prospects is the only way to live a lifestyle of no worries about finances. If you need something like a new bike then you will have to make money through calling the prospects and getting that commssion to pay that bike".

"The problem solver is the sales. 

"Making more calls can increase the luck and this means that there will be more buyers.

"Whenever I have doubts if I should call a client or prospect. This means that I should pick up the phone right now and call them...."

"Prospecting a client is a piece of cake once I give it my best shot. I am ready for set backs and objectives. The change is not coming. I am used t this.

It is for sure that more people you speak to on the phone more people will buy who you connect with. More effort you put in more conversions. If you are able to make 10 more calls today then yesterday. This will become a powerful tool to convert prospects.

10 more phone calls a day= 50 more in a week=210 calls per month (4.2 weeks avarage in a period of one month), = 2,520 more in a one year! That is just what some sales persons will make in a single year. 

Just get this through your head by thinking how much more sales and commission you will make if you did that. What does these numbers tell you?

And double that and triple it then.

I read this story that an etrepreneur was at the tipping point that many business people can relate with. Her income from sales was growing. It grew rapidly after couple of years of scaling it up.

This person working hard for 6 years but the income came not as she expected so the patience was getting low and she was very dissatisfied. Working hard and putting time and effort into it but she was ignoring family and friends. There was no time to eat lunch or even no time to go the bathroom.

She could not face the situation that occured. She needed to make changes to gain more profits from her business.

This person was at a situation that skills and knowledge she had obtained was not enough to keep her business moving forward to make more money. In case you might dance, do yoga, go for a run and sport every week this will bring you a healthy body conditions.

It is the time to get serious.

It is time to take wise decisions. Till now you have tried it. Till now you are still not there. In that case it the time to get the proper mind set. You will launch a new episode in your life and will realize that you need to be the best at what I do and I am not messed with. You have to wake up and feel the sunshine on your face and inhail reality and realize "Am I there?" That is where you want to be. And stop playing around and become serious about what you want to do.

Communicate in a good manner with your self.

Have pleasantly talk with your self. It is about inner self that you need to talk with. You might talk to your self in a positive manner such as "I cherish my work", "I am the best", "I love my self", "I am the best", "I can do it". If you do not want to deceive your self then do not contradict the positive inner talk with your self. This might not be deceiving your self and it can be summing up the facts with a prevision. It is not an issue what your point of view is. The direction is the matter of the issue. Talk positive to your self in a manner how you want to approach your self. Forget about the current situation. Take a notice that you might got today where you are without realizing correctly. Design your self by clearing out a path where you want to go.

Talk with your inner self.

There are people around that can help you to get your self motivated, but at the end of the day only you can push your self in your head with positive thinking to motivate your to set sail towards goals you have. If you talk to your self then this can have a positive outcome to reach goals. Ask your self the things to push your self that will give you a clear idea to find right answers hidden from you. Remember the objectives that is holding you back. This will get the right motivation for your self.

Push your self towards goals.

Think of the goals you want to reach. Be action packed to reach what you have in mind. Do not move the things you want to do now until tomorrow. The idea what you want to realize now must be done now not tomorrow. Move with the right pace that suits you. This can be not too quick and not too slow. You know it the best. More love for your own self more confident you will be. Higher your confidence more you will be able to reach.

Be a salesman with beginners luck forever.


There are situations that beginners luck seems to occure and everything happens to go right when you might start something new. It is also the case with things that you did not done in a long while. That is like shooting hoops and the ball just go in the hoop. Also like Ice Hockey every puck in the net and also like playing pool. Shots go in the side pocket. It is just a good thing to have beginners luck all the time. The term "beginners luck" gives an idea of the phenomenon when people are just getting started with something. Why do rookies beat the pro's at a game where the rookies are just getting their feet wet.

One of the answers can be when you are just getting your feet wet. You are not familiar with all the theories, rules, statistics, theories and techniques that might goes through your head piece when you are old veteran and try to perform at a top level. When you are a pro with all the expertise you might bite the bullet of the rookie who beat the pro's with beginners luck and start to win big time.  It is for sure that in most of the situations is that beginners luck. Even beginners luck will go away when the reality comes to play the part in the scenerio of  the salesmen with beginners luck.  This will put the new top performer with the both feet on the ground. This is not a lie in a sale.

Dummy stage is another word for beginners stage in the selling world. It do not last forever the beginners luck and you will run out of the beginners luck to reach the set targets. But even in an initial stage you can use super armour to harness against pitfalls of this stage. Eventually you can use the pitfalls in your advantage. This can be called the "The Dummy Curve". Process of the dummy curve or rather progression from the dummy stage to a professional stage can be reached when you utilize the proper tools from dummy stage to grow your skills in the professional stage.  It can be irritating and pleasing to the prospect when it comes to dummy skills.  The skills set must be utilized properly to armour your self with useful dummy qualities and become a good sales person and be productive to super charging your self when becoming a  professional sales person.

Say hi to Lt. Columbo.

You might see what I mean. This is an example we often use to give directions about this issue. There no chance that you do not know about LAPD detective called Lt. Columbo. That was back in 1970s and '80s. The manner this guy worked was quite excentric and his method of interrogating the muder suspect was out of this world. They always undermined the Lt. Columbo. If you go on youtube you can find plenty of Lt. Columbo's episodes.

There was an episode when Columbo has to answer a call at 11 p.m to investigate a murder case. The first thing he does going from house to house looking for answers. Until he gets to knock on the door of the fifth house in a row. And now it is 1:30 in the morning. A couple come to the door and opens up and the husband is so polite and asks Columbo "How can I help you?" Columbo says "Oh, yes, I am sorry. It is kind of late. I am Lt. Columbo with the LAPD. And he flashes his badge and the couple looks at his excentric appearance. (If you thought that they were the murderers in that episode. Then you are right) He explains why he is at the door and states that there has been an incident with the Murphys. He asks them if they knew Murphys. The wife answers "not really, kind of." Coloumbo says that they are not suspects that he is just here to answer questions. He explains that they are not suspects because the tire marks do not match on their front lawn. And the couple's car is parked in the front of the house.

The couple is so polite to ask him to come in the living room to have a cup of coffee. After couple of minutes pass by with questions and answers, Columbo says to the husband"Do you have a pen and paper"? because I forgot mine". He says that he was asleep when he got the call and he forgot to bring a pen and paper with him. The wife did not hesitate to give him a pen and paper. You might guess what the couple was thinking. This guy do not have a clue. He will never get to know that who commited the murder. The couple thought he was an amature. Columbo keeps asking questions and he keeps taking notes. They never thought getting caught by this excentric way of behaving Lt.
At last he is through asking questions and he hands the pen back. He is leaving the house. The couple thinks they are getting away with murder. He is almost outside the door and he hits his forehead with his palm and says "One more thing. Do you own another car?" They says without thinking. Well, yes, that is in the garage." They proceed to go to the garage. Columbo continues to check further the car. The tires were muddy and the marks match perfectly. The couple forgot that he was a detective and he was interrogating a murder. Why was he suspecting? Because he was acting that he knew a lot less than he actually did.

Asking lots of questions and being a dummy can get you anywhere but at a point where you can see success. They will trust you much quicker. If you can master the dummy curve can give you more success to make more money.

In sales telling stories can be a useful teaching tool. It considers getting your story through to the customer that emotionally can be touched to make a decision to buy from you. I have recently joined a workshop that a participant shared a story about experience he had at big-box TV store. He had no intentions in buying a flat screen TV but went to find some background information about flat screen TV's. He went to inform him self about the flat screen TV's and when time was there to buy he would make a correct decision. He wanted to buy online and not at the store.

The sales person greeted our participant at the door right away. The sales person was explaining what the features and benefits are of the wide screen TV's.  It was out of the question that the sales person came up with the question why our participant was visiting the store. Also he did not mention if the participant have visited the store before. Sales person asked him "How can I help you?". It is easy to get all the information he needed from the sales person about the wide screen TV's. The information was so useful that the participant would get a good deal online. But the sales person did not get the chance to sell any wide screen TV to the participant.

This happens often, the salesmen give their time and best shot to convince customers to give them a good deal that they can not refuse. They offer their valuable time, energy most of all resources to the customers hoping that this will work. The myth is that sales persons think "If I network enough and I call to get more prospects, if I give enough information about my product, if I find out if enough people need my products I offer for their business, and if I might proceed to make enough cold calls, then I'll will succeed".

The numbers game requires lot of work this means that you can go for numbers but this will waste your time, money and energy. If you ever heard about Sandler System then you know it is about working smarter and not working harder. Do not become a puppet on a string sales person. Feel for the prospects especially when they need to statisfy their need. If you ask the right questions and use the proper methods to uncover the needs they got you are on the right path. There were also another participant is Sandler sales program. He followed a phone prospecting system. When this guy left messages a small amount of people returned calls. This is not strange. This guy enrolled the advanced training program he made a clear statement of the results he had. Check out below what he found.
